Magma
The Magma series is an explosion of both action and matter. These artworks are meant to appeal to the feelings.
The first stroke that bursts onto the canvas -or paper- is conceived of as a happening. The next ones organize themselves around the first, until a figure emerges and seduces the imagination. In a way, this process is quite similar to finding forms in the clouds.
The choice of different materials is related to the sensations they evoke: earthy, wet, corrosive...
The first artwork of this series is:
Berber Woman
A new series has emerged lately; it’s a cross between Symbol and Magma.
The artwork on the right, Eve. Iniciation to the Mysteries, is one of them. It has been created on a canvas using mixed techniques (including digital ones).
Another one is Orfeo. Broken Song, made on paper. created on paper. Both include semantics and action.
The book Alchemy (ed. Inner City) by the jungian analyst Marie-Louise Von Franz has been most inspiring for these series, for the vision of how the process of mixing materials together affects us on the deepest levels.
